Vehicle and Parking Services

The Public Safety Department offers a variety of vehicle and parking services.

Vehicle Lockout

If you lock your keys in your vehicle on campus or within a six-block radius of the St. Paul campus or within one block of the Minneapolis campus, you may contact the Public Safety Department and an attempt will be made to open your vehicle; however, a waiver will need to be signed releasing the university from liability. Proof of ownership and proper identification will be required. If you have three or more outstanding citations, these must be paid before the service will be attempted. Public Safety officers may elect, but are not required, to provide such a service, particularly if their other patrol and/or emergency-care duties are put at risk.

Battery Jump Start Service

Public Safety and Parking Services has a jump-start service for vehicles parked on or within a six-block radius of the St. Paul campus or within one block of the Minneapolis campus. This service is available on a "first-come, first-served" basis as time or weather permits. Anyone parked on the St. Paul or Minneapolis campus who does not have three or more outstanding parking citations can get a free jump-start, however, they must complete a waiver releasing the university from liability. Public Safety officers may elect, but are not required, to provide such a service, particularly if their other patrol and/or emergency-care duties are put at risk. If you have three or more outstanding citations, these must be paid before the service will be attempted.

If UST Public Safety officers are unable to assist you or if their attempts fail, a local service station will be called for you, but you will need to pay the private vendor for the cost of the service provided. Call the St. Paul UST Public Safety and Parking Services at (96)2-5100.

Escort Service

Public Safety offers officer escorts to and from locations on campus and within 6 blocks of campus for the UST community and guests 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.

To request an escort from on campus, dial 2-5100, or from off campus dial (651)962-5100.
