H1N1 Weekly Report

By Madonna McDermott, director, Student Health Service & Wellness Center

The university has not yet learned the arrival date for the H1N1 vaccine.  When the vaccine arrives, the Student Health Service will hold on-campus H1N1 clinics. The dates for the clinics will be announced in Bulletin Today and on the university’s Pandemic Web site.

The Minnesota Department of Health, however, has announced distribution criteria for the first wave of the H1N1 vaccine:

  • pregnant women, persons who live with or provide care for infants less than 6 months old;
  • health-care and emergency medical services personnel who have direct contact with patients or infectious material;
  • children aged 6 months through 4 years; and
  • children and adolescent aged 5-18 years who have medical conditions that put them at higher risk for influenza-related complications.
