The quality of a student’s experience relies greatly on the ease of use of administrative functions of the university. Convenient access to student services is an area in which St. Thomas is committed to improving. A new student center will make that possible by freeing up Murray-Herrick Campus Center to serve, among other roles, as a "one-stop" hub for student administrative services.
The renovation of Murray-Herrick Campus Center will, of necessity, wait until the new student center is opened and Murray-Herrick is vacated. A possible plan is for the first floor of Murray-Herrick to be turned into a one-stop student-services center. Departments therein likely will include Undergraduate Admissions, Financial Aid, Academic Counseling, the Registrar’s Office and the Business Office. The lower level could house the existing post office and a relocated computer data center.
The second floor and part of the third floor will be used for classrooms, faculty offices and instructional areas equipped with new teaching technology. The meeting room for the board of trustees, the Career Development Center, and the Personal Counseling office will remain in Herrick Hall, as will student housing on the third and fourth floors of Murray Hall. Naming opportunities for many of these new areas are available.
