Support student scholarships with GoodSearch

February 19, 2009

Good news!

The University of St. Thomas has signed up for GoodSearch, an online search engine (powered by Yahoo!) which donates 50 percent of its revenue (about a penny per search) to the charities and schools designated by the user. All donations received by St. Thomas will support scholarship funds for students, and the goal is to raise $5,000 by December 31, 2009.

Here’s how to use GoodSearch:

1. Go to www.goodsearch.com.
2. Designate “University of St. Thomas (St. Paul, MN)” the first time you use GoodSearch (it will automatically default the next time you go there).
3. Start searching the internet.
4. GoodSearch can be bookmarked, set as your homepage, or added to your toolbar or firebox.

A penny per search adds up! For example, Martin Luther College in New Elm, Minn., has earned over $1,400 since 2006. Their undergraduate student enrollment is only 717 students. And Pennsylvania State University’s dance marathon raised over $5,300 since 2006, benefiting the fight against childhood cancer.

The effectiveness of this resource lies almost entirely in getting people to use it; so you are the key to our success. Use GoodSearch for all your online searches. Send an e-mail message to your friends and colleagues asking them to support UST through GoodSearch. The search tool can be bookmarked, set as your homepage, or added to your toolbar or firebox.
