- American Association of University Women
Description: American Fellowships support women doctoral candidates completing dissertations or scholars seeking funds for postdoctoral research leave from accredited institutions. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Candidates are evaluated on the basis of scholarly excellence, teaching experience, and active commitment to helping women and girls through service in their communities, professions, or fields of research.

- Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Description: College scholarships are awarded to qualified students with moderate to profound hearing loss to continue their education on undergraduate and graduate levels. Preference is given to undergraduates. Students must demonstrate a serious commitment to academic and career excellence. All fields of study are welcome.

- American Foundation for Aging Research
Description: The fellowship is open for undergraduate, graduate, or pre-doctoral students. Applicants must be actively involved in a specific biomedical or biomedical research project in the field of aging.

- American Institute for Economic Research
Description: The Institute awards a dozen or more Summer Fellowships each year to college and university seniors who will be entering a doctoral program in economics or affiliated program (e.g., law and economics, economic history, etc.). We also consider applications from those students enrolled in such programs for no more than two years. The program is not designed for students wishing to pursue graduate work in a business school program (e.g. MBA).
Deadlines: Applications are due march 31st of the year for which you plan to attend.
- American Institute of Indian Studies Fellowship
Description: The American Institute of Indian Studies invites applications from scholars from all disciplines who wish to conduct their research in India. Junior fellowships are given to doctoral candidates to conduct research for their dissertations in India for up to eleven months.
Deadlines: Applications are due July 1st.
- American Society for Microbiology (ASM)
Description: The ASM Undergraduate Research Fellowship is aimed at highly competitive students who wish to pursue graduate careers (Ph.D. or MD/Ph.D) in microbiology. Students will have the opportunity to conduct full time research at their home institution with an ASM member and present research results at the ASM General Meeting the following year. Eligible student candidates for the fellowship must be involved in a research project, and have an ASM member at their home institution willing to serve as the mentor.

- Ayn Rand Essay Scholarships
Description: College students have to write an essay about Ayn Ran novel “Atlas Shrugged.” Students can select one of the three proposed topics.

- Charlotte W. Newcombe Doctoral Dissertation Fellowships
Description: Charlotte W. Newcombe Doctoral Dissertation Fellowships are designed to encourage original and significant study of ethical or religious values in all fields of the humanities and social sciences. In addition to topics in religious studies or in ethics (philosophical or religious), dissertations might consider the ethical implications of foreign policy, the values influencing political decisions, the moral codes of other cultures, and religious or ethical issues reflected in history or literature.

- Dr. Gombojab Hangin Memorial Scholarship
Description: The scholarship is to be given to a student of Mongolian heritage, defined as an individual of Mongolian ethnic origins, who has permanent residence in Mongolia, the People's Republic of China, or the former Soviet Union to pursue studies in the United States of America.

- Educational Foundation of the National Restaurant Association
Description: The National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation is proud to make available the following college scholarships: Academic Scholarship for Undergraduate Students.
To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must be a current major in a restaurant or foodservice/hospitality program, have proof of restaurant or foodservice-related work experience with a minimum of 750 hours verified by copies of paycheck stubs or letter(s) from employer(s) stipulating number of hours worked. (W-2's are NOT valid proof of hours worked.), and have a letter of recommendation on letterhead from a current/previous employer in the restaurant or foodservice industry.

- GE and LuLac Scholarship Funds
Description: LULAC Councils will award scholarships to qualified Hispanic students who are enrolled or are planning to enroll in accredited colleges or universities in the United States: Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for a scholarship:
-Must be a U.S. citizen or legal resident.
-Must have applied to or be enrolled in a college, university, or graduate school, including 2-year colleges, excluding vocational schools.

- Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation
Description: The Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation (HFG) welcomes proposals from any of the natural and social sciences and the humanities that promise to increase understanding of the causes, manifestations, and control of violence, aggression, and dominance. Highest priority is given to research that can increase understanding and amelioration of urgent problems of violence, aggression, and dominance in the modern world.

- Hawk Mountain International Internship Program
Description: Each year, Hawk Mountain Sanctuary offers 12-14 competitive Conservation Science internships to applicants from around the globe. Interns work closely in a mentor-student relationship with at least one senior staff member. Each intern completes an independent project and gains hands-on experience in one of three tracks; research, monitoring or environmental education.

- Intl Graduate Student Fellowship at the American Museum of Natural History
Description: The program is for international students that wish to study a diversified curriculum in biodiversity, conservation, systematics, and public policy.
Students are able to choose among numerous offerings of four major universities to create a graduate program. The universities are: City University of New York, Columbia University, Yale University, and Cornell University. Applicants should first contact the Office of Grants and Fellowships to discuss their interests, background, and eligibility for the program.

- Joint Japan/Worldbank Graduate Scholarship Program
Description: The Scholarship Program and the Fellowships Program are vehicles for knowledge sharing and capacity building in the developing world. The Programs provide opportunities for graduate studies leading to master's degree in development-related fields for mid-career professionals from the World Bank member countries, eligible to borrow. WBI supplements its training programs through the management of the following two programs:
The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP), solely sponsored by the Government of Japan and
The Robert S. McNamara Fellowships Program (RSM Fellowships), co-sponsored by the World Bank and Princeton University.

- Leo S. Rowe Pan American Fund (Interest-free Student Loans)
Description: LSRPAF grants interest-free student loans to competent persons from Latin American and Caribbean countries, members of the Organization of American States, to assist them to finance their studies or training in an accredited higher education institution in the United States. This is with the understanding that they will return to their countries upon completion of those studies, to give their countries the benefit of their education.

- Maryland Artists Equity Foundation
Description: MAEF awards scholarships to gifted young artists and encourages them to seek careers in the visual arts. Applicants must be high school seniors.

- National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH)
Description: Fellowships support individuals pursuing advanced research in the humanities that contributes to scholarly knowledge or to the general public's understanding of the humanities. Applicants may be faculty or staff members of colleges or universities, or of primary or secondary schools, or independent scholars or writers. Fellowships provide support for projects that can be completed during the tenure of the award, as well as for work that is part of a long-term endeavor. Recipients usually produce scholarly articles, monographs on specialized subjects, books on broad topics, archaeological site reports, translations, editions, or other scholarly tools.
Deadlines: Fellowship applications must be submitted between March 1 and the May 1, 2004 deadline (applications and details are available online)

- P.E.O. Sisterhood International Peace Scholarship
Description: One of the world's largest sources of funding exclusively for graduate women, the AAUW Educational Foundation supports aspiring scholars around the globe, teachers and activists in local communities, women at critical stages of their careers, and those pursuing professions where women are underrepresented.

- SEG Foundation Scholarship Program
Description: There are three possible awards.
The G.W. Hohmann undergraduate and graduate awards are restricted to students whose course of study is directed toward a degree in geophysics with an emphasis on mining or electrical methods.
The Lucien LaCoste award is restricted to a graduate student whose degree is in geophysics with a special emphasis on gravity exploration.
The Robert E. Sheriff award and the Margaret S. Sheriff award were recently established to enable a non-U.S. resident to study geophysics at the graduate level at the University of Houston.
Deadlines: Applications and Supporting Documents Must Be Received by March 1 of the year in which the award is made. All of these documents are available online.

- Sumitro Fellows Program
Description: The U.S. Indonesia Society is currently inviting applications for travel/study grants from postdoctoral scholars PhD candidates, senior academics, and otherwise professionally qualified candidates to engage in field research in Indonesia on an economic or political-economic topic.
Deadlines: Applicants should submit a one-page abstract of the field research contemplated, a budget of anticipated expenditures, a c.v. and two letters of support by September 1st.

Description: The Goal of the ESSF is to assist a student during the summer months in the pursuit of work in the field of interest to The Electrochemical Society.

Description: The Dart Foundation Scholars Program provides funding to pursue research at the Marine Biological Laboratory on the neurobiology of learning and memory.

- The Grass Foundation Fellowships
Description: Grass Fellowships at MBL permit a group of investigators early in their careers to conduct independent research projects of their own design. While sharing the "Grass Lab", Fellows function as an intellectual and social group within the MBL community. A weekly seminar series provides an opportunity for the Fellows to invite some of the eminent investigators at MBL to discuss their work.

Description: This scholarship is open to all students. The award is offered twice a year.

Description: Various awards that deal with the studies of herbs for undergraduate students.

- The Jacob Rader Marcus Center of the American Jewish Archives
Description: Marcus Center fellows are teachers, students, scholars, and practitioners who, both individually and as a group, come to the American Jewish Archives to study some aspect of the American Jewish past.
Deadlines: The submission deadline for applications is no later than March 18, 2004.
- The M. Blaha Medical Grant
Description: This scholarship is open to all students in the medical field and medical related studies (including psychology and veterinarian). The award is offered twice a year.

- The Mary Isabel Sibely Fellowship
Description: The fellowship is offered for the study of Greek Language, Literature, History, or Archaeology. Candidates must be unmarried women, between 25 and 35 years of age, who have demonstrated their ability to carry on original research. They must hold the doctorate or have fulfilled all the requirements for the doctorate except the dissertation.

- The Roothbert Scholarship Fund
Description: This scholarship is open to all students, especially those motivated by spiritual values (but this is not a requirement).
VERY IMPORTANT--BEFORE YOU CONSIDER APPLYING: Please note that applicant interviews are scheduled on extremely short notice in March and are held in New York, New Haven, Philadelphia and Washington, DC. The Fund will not pay any transportation charges or other costs of applicants who are invited to be interviewed. Persons who live at a significant distance from these cities should reconsider submitting an application, if the expense and time required to travel to any of those cities would be unduly burdensome. No grant is awarded by the Fund without a personal interview. However, submitting an application does not guarantee being invited for an interview, and being invited for an interview does not guarantee a scholarship.

- The Sinfonia Foundation
Description: The SF offers a Philanthropy in Music Award to honor exemplary philanthropic support of music in America. Awards are offered every three years, the upcoming year being 2006.

- The Soroptimist International Women's Opportunity Award
Description: Women's Opportunity Awards are designed to give women heads of household, who provide the primary source of financial support for their families, the opportunity to achieve their career goals—an opportunity they have not previously had, whether because of economic or social barriers, or personal circumstances. These awards are for women who are attending, or have been accepted to, a vocational/skills training program, or an undergraduate degree program. Women's Opportunity Awards are cash awards that recipients may use for any expenses related to their educational pursuits. These include tuition and books, housing, child care and transportation. These awards are not scholarships.
Deadlines: Applications are accepted each year from July 1st until December 1st. Applications received after December 1st and before July 1st will not be considered.
