> Undergraduate Mentor Program

As a new undergraduate international student at the University of St. Thomas you will be paired up to at least one student mentor hired by the Office of International Student Services.  The mentors we have hired in the past are usually juniors and seniors at St. Thomas and they can be either domestic or international students.

You will meet your mentor/s for the first time during International Student Orientation and they will be available to you during your first semester at the University of St. Thomas. Your mentor/s will assist you with any questions you may have regarding how to register for classes, finding an apartment, managing your classes, living in the Twin Cities and meeting other students. The undergraduate mentors will contact you on a weekly basis either by emailing, calling or meeting you in person throughout your first semester at St. Thomas. The undergraduate mentors will also plan weekly events for you to participate in during your first semester here. Your mentor/s will provide support and assistance to you during your first semester at St. Thomas and we encourage you to participate in as many of our events as possible.

A few examples of the Undergraduate Mentor Program events that we have sponsored over the last year include:

  • Trip to Minnesota’s State Capitol
  • Dinner at a local restaurant
  • An ice skating excursion
  • Hiking at Taylors Falls
  • Trips to the Mall of America
  • Picking apples at a local orchard
