Erica Embury

International Mentor

More Information

Hi, my name is Erica Embury and I am a senior double majoring in Communications/Journalism and Spanish. Aside from studying at the University of St. Thomas, I’ve also spent quite a bit of time abroad. I’ve studied in both Mexico and Spain and traveled to France and Portugal. My time abroad has fueled my passion for everything Spanish: especially the language, the culture and the food! I’m obsessed with traveling and nothing is more exciting to me than going new places and meeting new people. The world is so big, and I can’t wait to see more of it throughout the next few years.

When I’m not in class or at work, I love cooking, writing, going to new restaurants and especially exploring new coffee shops around the Twin Cities (I’m hopelessly addicted to caffeine). I cannot wait to work with this year’s international students and look forward to an exciting year for all of us.

More Information

Hi, name is Miraz, Md Abdullah A., but you can call me Miraz. I'm majoring in Actuarial Science and Mechanical Engineering here at the University of St. Thomas (UST). Interestingly, I'm an international student in the U.S. too! I'm from Bangladesh which is in South East of Asia.

I am fluent in Bangla (Bengali) and English; I can speak Urdu and Hindi, and I know Arabic to some extent. I am involved with the Rock Climbing club and Ski and Snowboard club. I can play cricket, soccer, badminton, ping pong (table tennis), chess, and golf along with other European and Asian games and sports. I studied abroad in Pakistan for a year and I graduated high school under London University curriculum which is called Advanced Level. I have travelled to Pakistan, Belgium, France, Germany, Netherlands, Malaysia, and I have taken multiple road trips in the U.S. and Canada where I have covered about 40 states and 3 Canadian provinces so far. Traveling and taking road trips within the U.S. are the things that I love the most.

Minnesota is one of the top 5 educated states in the U.S. This state ranks 6th for health and medicare. One of the largest malls in the planet is right here which is about a 20 minutes drive from our campus! Like most states in the U.S., we have a “nick name” that Minnesota is known by: The Land of 10,000 Lakes! The famous Mississippi river is right next to our campus! Minnesota is also one of the coldest states but winter is lots of fun.

More Information

Hi, my name is Dieynaba Ndiaye. I am originally from Dakar, Senegal, but I moved to Minnesota when I was four years old. I love the Twin Cities; there is so much to do here! Some of my hobbies include playing tennis, apple picking, and dancing! As one of the most diverse states in the United States, Minnesota is a great place to meet new people from different backgrounds, while trying new things.

I am a senior at St. Thomas, pursuing an International Studies major with a concentration in Political Science and minoring in French. I studied abroad in Paris, France and while I was abroad, I was able to visit London, Nice, and Monaco. I definitely plan on traveling more in the future!

I extremely excited to learn about different cultures, plan fun events, and maybe even learning a few words in a different language this semester!
