January Term (J-term) is
an optional term for
continuing F-1 and J-1 students.
Winter Break and J-term
at the University of St. Thomas begin
on December 22,
2007 or when all of your final papers, exams and
projects are completed for the Fall
Semester. J-term
ends for all students on Sunday, January
27, 2008.
Continuing
F-1 and J-1 visa students have the following options
during the J-term:
- Enroll in courses
at the University of St. Thomas
- Enroll in courses
at a different university or college as a visiting
student
- Do not enroll in
courses at St. Thomas or another university or college
- Work part-time or
full-time on the University of St. Thomas campus
- Work part-time or
full-time off campus with Curricular Practical Training
(CPT) authorization if
you have been in F-1 status for at least 2 academic
semesters - obtain
permission from OISS
- Work part-time or
full-time off campus with Academic Training (AT)
authorization if you have J-1 status - obtain permission
from OISS
- Travel home, to a
different country, or a different U.S. state (have your
I-20 signed for travel by
an OISS Advisor on page 3 before leaving the
U.S.)
- Any combination
of the above options
