The Obstacles of Leadership and Prospectus for the future

Father Denis Dease, President of the University of St. Thomas, and the College of Applied Professional Studies present former Cape Verde President António Mascarenhas Monteiro

Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007
7-9 p.m.
Terrence Murphy Hall, Thornton Auditorium
University of St. Thomas, Minneapolis Campus

FREE and Open to the Public

His Excellency Monteiro was the first multi party-elected president of the Republic of Cape Verde. Cape Verde is one of the more viable democracies in Africa and is one of the first countries to fully mobilize resources made available through the Millennium Challenge Account.

The College of Applied Professional Studies is dedicated to informing leadership practices through multiple perspectives and critical reflection. We invite you to a unique learning opportunity that will increase your understanding and awareness about contemporary trends and developments in Africa as it relates to democratic leadership and free-market reform.

Drawing from his experience as a former head of state,

Monteiro will reflect on the obstacles his country and the continent face in development and diplomatic affairs as well as the outlook of Africa's future. A Q & A session will follow the presentation.
