2009 Diversity Visa Program

The State Department Web site for the 2009 Diversity Visa Program (DV-2009) is now open. The application submission period for DV-2009 is from October 3, 2007 to December 2, 2007. The application form will only be available for submission during this period and this period only. Applications will not be accepted through the U.S. Postal Service.

For more information, go to: http://www.dvlottery.state.gov/

If you have applied or are thinking about applying for the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program (or "Diversity Lottery"), please be aware: There have been reports of fraudulent offers, information, guides, and winners'
notifications by email regarding the diversity lottery. Other fraudulent schemes involving help with winning strategies and preparing winning entries are offered, often for a fee.

If you have any questions about the Diversity Lottery, go to the official U.S. Department of State web site for accurate information. And remember:
a. the lottery is free,
b. there are no email notifications of winners, c. there are no other persons outside of the government involved with decision making or notification, d. there are no winning strategies, e. you do not need expert or legal advice to enter, and f. you may consult a lawyer if you choose but it is not required

If, after consulting the government web site, you still have questions about potential fraud, ISSS advisers will try to help you answer your questions.
Information about the United States Diversity Lottery is available at: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_1318.html
