UST Students participate in Unity World Day of Prayer Service

Seven international students and one international student mentor attended and participated in the Unity World Day of Prayer Service at the Unity Christ Church in Golden Valley on Sept. 8, 2005. The eight students, accompanied by OISS advisor Tom Carey, were honored at a dinner hosted by the Unity pastor and parishioners. Father Clement Beeri, UST student from Ghana, Africa, gave the invocation.

The evening service began at 7:00pm with the John Denver song "All This Joy" accompanied by hand movements by the children's choir. There was a viewing of the National Geographic video "Celebrate What's Right With the World" followed by each student reading a short prayer representing their continent and desire for peace in the world. The students then lit a individual candle placed around a large globe. The evening concluded with a large circle formed throughout the church and the sharing of the Hindu greeting "NAMASTE" and the songs "Peace in the World" and "There is Only Love".

It was a wonderful spirit filled evening and both the UST students and the parishioners were deeply touched by the coming together and sharing. The UST students attending and the countries they represented were as follows:

Fr. Clement Beeri-Ghana/Africa

Denise Beattie-Sydney/Australia

Claire Allen-Canberra/Australia

Paula Merelo Romojaro-Spain/Europe

Jennifer Burke-USA/North America

Veronica Tebbitt-Argentina/South America

Mieko Miyazaki-Japan/Asia

Yuri Naganawa-Japan/Asia
