Graduate Student Mentors

Thursday, October 18, 2007
MOH 202 (Minneapolis)
4:30-5:30 PM

The Office of International Student Services has established a new International Graduate Mentor Program to help new international graduate students during their first semester on campus. OISS has hired two graduate students to serve as mentors to help new graduate students with practical, social, cultural and academic adjustment.  The graduate mentors will plan two events per month for the Fall Semester and they will keep in contact with new graduate students individually.

The first International Graduate Mentor Event will take place on Thursday, October 18, 2007 at the Minneapolis campus in MOH 202 from 4:30-5:30 PM.  Light snacks will be provided and we encourage new international graduate students to attend this event.

Get to know your graduate mentors a little better….
Welcome to St. Thomas!  My name is Jackie Owusu-Mensah. I’m originally from Ghana, West Africa, and currently pursuing an MBA here at the University of St Thomas. I’m thrilled to be part of such as a great community and ecstatic to serve as a Graduate International Student Mentor! I look forward to interacting with each and every one of you. I love music – all kinds – and enjoy eating out with my friends and family; so if you know of any great places to eat out here in the Twin Cities, you know where to find me!

Hi!! I am Komal Mohan, from India, came to UST this year to pursue my PhD in Psychology. I have always been inclined to helping people in distress and therefore this field was an obvious choice. I love reading, listening to people, as well as being out doors and having fun. I want to explore this new city and country, new culture and perspective; and so I invite you all to do the same with me, together we can make this journey through UST, one to remember. Being new to the country it would be easy for me to identify with all the struggles and joys you all go through.
