How to send us news

Still need a Social Security Number?

If you weren't able to join us last week for our trips to the Social Security Office, don't worry, we are planning "encores"!

Since we are not sure how many students need to go and what time works out for everyone, please email us at oiss@stthomas.edu the following information:

- your name
- times you have free during the week (the more times, the better!)

Since we would like to get everyone Social Security numbers as soon as possible please email us back before the end of the week (October 14th) so we can plan the trips.

Also, be sure you have the following so you can apply for a Social Security Number:

  • Passport
  • I-94 card
  • I-20
  • check-stub from first paycheck (please note, we do not need to have the actual check - you can cash this.  We just need the check-stub half for this appointment)  If you do not have a paycheck yet, have your employer write a letter on official letterhead stating you have a job on campus.
  • letter from OISS verifying your status (complete a request for this letter if you do not have one yet.  Indicate "SSN" on the Other reason field)
  • the completed Social Security application  - there is no fee for this application.
