How to send us news

HEALTHY U

Throughout the academic year many workshops, seminaries, presentations, and activities that  include but are not limited to these topics: healthy eating on and off campus, physical fitness, familiarity with exercise options on campus, familiarity with ethnic grocery stores, understanding American food and reading its labels, will be offer through the Healthy U in the US program.

The purpose of this program is to provide education and assist international students in developing healthy lifestyle choices. The Healthy U in the US will offer nutrition and physical fitness programs through the year. There will be cooking classes and exercise classes to help you stay in shape. Most classes will be free of charge.

Among many other academic related hardships international students often experience negative health consequences related to their move to the Unites States. Most are results of nutrition changes, and many international students told us that inability to obtain their native food, unfamiliarity with American food and lack of exercise resulted in weight gain. Other difficulties faced by international students are related to hardship in establishing friendships with other students and building social support. Therefore, involvement in Healthy U in the US can help you ease up some of these issues.

If you are interested in being involved in our program please sign up by writing an email to Wellnessctr@stthomas.edu. By signing up your name, you will be notified about our programs prior we send information to all students. That way you will have an advantage to sign up in advance in our programs that have space limit.
