Print Management for Students

The university administration partnered with student leadership to implement a print management program on campus. The program goals are to track campus printing activities, educate everyone who uses printing resources, and implement methods for reducing excessive paper use and printing.

Every student at St. Thomas is given a quota (allotment) for "free" printing and will be charged a per-print fee over and above that allotment.  The allotment will be $40 for Fall, $40 for J-Term/Spring and $40 for Summer.  Each semester is defined as follows:

August 19 - January 1
January 2 - May 19
May 20 - August 18

The $40 allotment is equal to 400 black and white (160 color) letter size prints. Each page printed beyond $40 will be charged back to the student at a rate of 10¢ per black and white (25¢ color) standard print.   In comparisons with other universities, we feel the allotment given to students is generous.  Other institutions either give a smaller allotment or no quota (allotment) at all.  Printers in student labs will automatically know who to charge based on the workstation login information.  To check your printing activity click here.
