10 Things International
Students Should Know About St. Thomas 1. ID Card
You need a photo I.D. while attending the University of St. Thomas.
On the face of the card is a photo of you along with your name,
status and your UST ID number. On the back of the card is your
library bar code and a magnetic strip that contains your UST ID
number and other confidential information required to authorize your
access and transactions.
* To get your free I.D. card, visit the Card Office in Room 259 in
Murray-Herrick Campus Center.*
2. E-mail Account
*If you have not already, you should activate your UST e-mail
account. This is the primary way that UST will communicate with you.
It is your responsibility to activate and use it.
You can begin setting up your account at
http://www.stthomas.edu/new
3. Murphy Online
Murphy Online is a secure student information system that allows a
student to view: Class Lists, Wait Lists, Account Information,
Midterm and Final Grades, Unofficial Transcripts, student
information, etc.
*You will need a UST I.D. and PIN to access Murphy online.*
4. Jobs at UST
If you are looking for on campus employment for the summer or fall
of 2006 there are three great ways to learn about employment
opportunities at St Thomas:
*Employment Opportunities webpage:
http://dserv.hr.stthomas.edu/studentjobs/
*Job Posting Board: University of St Thomas:
2115 Summit Ave
St Paul, MN
2nd floor of Aquinas H
*Job Line 651-962-6520
*On-campus employment is limited to 20 hours per week during fall
and spring semesters for International Students. During school
vacations, students may work 40 hours a week. School vacations
include Thanksgiving break, winter break, J-term, spring break and
summer.*
5. Shuttle Bus
Minneapolis/St. Paul Campus Shuttle Bus
A free shuttle bus service is available Monday through Friday
between the St. Paul and Minneapolis campuses to those with current
and valid St. Thomas identification. The bus is for St. Thomas
business only and should only be used to commute between the St.
Thomas campuses.
SUMMER SHUTTLE BUS SCHEDULE May 22 August 12 Monday-Friday
The Shuttle leaves ten minutes and forty minutes after each hour. It
begins running at 6:40a.m and ends at 11:10 p.m.

6. Metro Transit
Many international students do not have a car when they first arrive
in the United States, and although the shuttle to the Minneapolis
campus can be very helpful, it may not bring you to your desired
destination. Metro transit, the busing system in St. Paul, is a
great alternative mode of transportation.
For more information go to
http://www.metrotransit.org/
7. The Box Office
The Box Office & Expeditions offers the St. Thomas campus community
and Alumni access to many local Twin Cities cultural, theatrical,
and athletic events; outdoor and recreational equipment and outdoor
programming and co-curricular experiences (i.e. discounted tickets
to movie theaters, Valleyfair, museums, concerts, etc.)
*Located in lower level Murray Herrick Campus Center*
8. Clubs and Organizations
Getting involved outside the classroom at the University of St.
Thomas is one of the best things you can do for yourself as a
student. With approximately 70 clubs and organizations you are bound
to find some groups which meet your interest. Check out the list of
all of the clubs & organizations:
http://www.stthomas.edu/clubs/more_clubs.htm
9. Mass & Worship Opportunities
Campus Ministry is eager for all students to grow in their faith
while at St. Thomas. Students from a variety of Christian
denominations and other faith traditions are involved with our
programs. On-campus worship opportunities in the Catholic faith
tradition for the summer of 2006 include:
- Sunday May 21-June 4
10:00 am Chapel of St. Thomas Aquinas
- June 11- August 13
10:00 am St. John Vianney Seminary Chapel
(Northwest Corner of St. Paul Campus
near Selby and Finn Avenue)
- August 20 & 27
10:00 am Chapel of St. Thomas Aquinas
- September 3
5:00 pm chapel of St. Thomas Aquinas
*If you are of another Christian denomination or other faith
tradition campus ministry would most willingly assist you in
finding a place of worship in or around the Twin Cities. Located
in Murray-Herrick Campus Center #105.*
