There is a good reason they call these ceremonies "commencement exercises." Graduation is not the end; it's the beginning.

New Insurance Plan Begins This Fall

A new health insurance plan for University of St. Thomas students will be available beginning fall 2009. UST has partnered with Aetna Student Health to provide students with an affordable, quality health insurance plan option.

The Student Health Insurance plan will cost $429 per semester. If you already have coverage under your parents' or another plan, you are encouraged to review your plan to determine if it has comparative health coverage while at UST.

Consider these questions regarding your current policy:

 1. Does the policy cover nonemergency care away from your home area?

2.  Does your plan offer a national prescription drug card?

3.  Can you visit any provider without a referral?

4.  Does it have continuation coverage after graduation?

5. Will it cover you while studying abroad?

Highlights of the 2009-10 plan through Aetna Student Health include:

-  $1,000,000 coverage
-  No deductible
-  Maximum $5,000 out-of-pocket expense
-  Five visits per year covered at 100 percent for care received at the UST Student Health Service
 - Prescription coverage plan
-  Access to local and national preferred providers
- Access to vision, fitness and alternative health care discount programs
- Travel assistance service and worldwide medical coverage while studying abroad
 - 24-hour nurse telephone line
 - Disease management program
 - More details about the new Aetna Student Health Insurance   will be mailed this summer and will be available on the Student Health Web site. Online enrollment will open Aug. 1, 2009, via UST Murphy Online, with a coverage effective date of Aug. 15, 2009.

Student mailbox closing begins May 25

Campus Mail Services will begin closing mailboxes Monday, May 25. With more than 5,000 mailboxes to close, this process takes several days. Mailboxes will be reopened the last week of August 2009 for the fall semester.

Forwardable mail (mail that is posted as first class, first-class presort, Express, Priority mail or paid magazine subscriptions will be sent automatically to each student's permanent address. Students may choose an alternate address by filling out a pink forwarding card that is available at Campus Mail Services (the Post Office window), lower level, Murray-Herrick Campus Center.

UPS, Federal Express, Speedy and DHL are delivery services that cannot be forwarded. If you receive a package from one of these services after your mailbox closes, we will e-mail you and hold the package for pick-up.

Campus Mail Services is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Students may submit a request to keep their mailbox open for the summer by signing up at Campus Mail Services' stamp sales window. Sign up before Monday, May 25, to avoid misdirected mail. If you choose to keep your mailbox open for the summer, make certain your mail is picked up weekly.

Graduating seniors may elect to keep their mailboxes open until mid-July.

Students going abroad for fall should make arrangements to tag and close their mailboxes prior to leaving. Forwardable mail will be sent to your permanent domestic address.

Faculty and staff are reminded that distribution to mailboxes should be kept to a minimum a week before mailboxes close. Intercampus mail from closed mailboxes will be returned to the originating department if it can be determined.

Faculty and staff: Ask students to give you stamped, self-addressed envelopes for final papers and binders. Campus Mail Services can help students determine proper postage for these items.

Questions? Call Campus Mail Services, (651) 962-6350, or Shipping and Receiving, (651) 962-6355.
