Spring Fling Week events

Spring Fling Week starts Sunday. Fun events are planned each day to celebrate this year's theme, " New York , New York! "

Tuesday, April 24

  • STAR will continue promoting the week with I Heart UST giveaways and a trivia game with prizes during the convo hour in Foley Plaza .
  • The Tommies will take on Hamline in a double header beginning at 2:30 p.m. Enjoy some baseball and Cracker Jacks, and pick up your new Fanamaniac T-shirt.
  • To keep with the New York theme, the Student Dining Room will offer a Little Italy-Chinatown Buffet during the normal dinner hour.
  • Today, Tuesday, April 24, is the deadline to enter the Hot Dog Eating Contest (see below) that will be held on Wednesday, April 25. E-mail STAR programming intern Dan Miles to enter the contest.

Wednesday, April 25

  • Tommies take on Gustavus at 4 p.m. at the UST softball field. Pick up your new Fanamaniac T-shirt and show your Tommie spirit.
  • Enjoy a free barbecue dinner beginning at 4 p.m. on south campus. A Hot Dog Eating Contest will start shortly after the barbecue, so come out and cheer the "professional" eaters on.   To enter the contest, e-mail STAR programming intern Dan Miles by Tuesday, April 24.
  • The Bus will leave the arches at 7:30 p.m. to head to a Broadway musical comedy hit, "Hairspray," at The Orpheum. Thirty-nine tickets have been available in the Box Office since April 19 for this event. One ticket per UST student; sorry no guests allowed.
  • Debra Davis, a transgender high school librarian, will tell her story beginning at 7 p.m. in O'Shaughnessy Educational Center auditorium. No tickets are necessary. This lecture is sponsored in conjunction with the University Lectures Committee, Allies, College Democrats, and the Luann Dummer Center for Women.

Thursday, April 26

  • STAR will continue promoting the week with free I Heart UST giveaways and a New York photo booth during the convo hour in Foley Plaza .
  • Come get a dose of your favorite New York City crew; watch multiple episodes of the comedy hit, "Friends." The videos will be shown from 6 to 10 p.m. in Room 126, John R. Roach Center for the Liberal Arts.

Friday, April 27

  • Popular country artist Phil Vassar will perform at 7:30 p.m. in Schoenecker Arena. The doors will open at 7 p.m. No tickets are necessary. You must show your UST student ID to enter. One guest is allowed per UST ID.

Saturday, April 28

  • A "Big Night in the Big Apple" STAR's Spring Fling semiformal dance from 9 p.m. Saturday, April 28, to 1 a.m. Sunday, April 29; put your dancing shoes on. Tickets are available in the Box Office throughout the week at a price of $5 for UST students, $10 for guests. Only one guest ticket per UST ID. See details above.

Sunday, April 29

  • Wrap up Spring Fling Week with a free breakfast after the dance, from midnight to 2 a.m. , in the cafeteria. This breakfast is sponsored by the All College Council.
