The Heritage Week Committee is putting final touches on this year's Heritage Week to be held March 2-9. In coming weeks you will see additional information on various events for this fourth-annual celebration of St. Thomas' history, community and tradition. 

A highlight this year will be a panel discussion and an exhibit of memorabilia on I.A. O'Shaughnessy and his legacy on the 100th anniversary of his graduation from St. Thomas.  Members of the panel will include Father Theodore Hesburgh, former president of the University of Notre Dame and friend of O'Shaughnessy; O'Shaughnessy's son Lawrence and grandsons John and Patrick O'Shaughnessy; and historian John Lindley. 

Another feature this year is a "Stories of St. Thomas" blog.  The committee felt that to understand St. Thomas you need to know its stories – everyone has a story.  Whether we come to campus as students, staff or faculty, we step into a legacy, a rich tradition, a unique stream of values, visions, creations and kindnesses that go all the way back to our founders. This legacy continues to grow today as each member of the community participates actively in our university life. It gives shape to the unique kind of learning that is a St. Thomas education. • Treasure hunt ($300 prize!) – Friday, March 2, through Friday, March 9 (or until the treasure is found); clues start March 2 in Bulletin Today.

• Exhibit of I.A. O'Shaughnessy memorabilia and photos – March 2-9, in the lobby of O'Shaughnessy Educational Center

• Faculty-Staff Recognition Ceremony – 3-4:30 p.m. Friday, March 2, in O'Shaughnessy Educational Center auditorium

• St. Thomas Day Mass and celebration – Saturday, March 3, Chapel of St. Thomas Aquin as; Student Dining Room

• Panel discussion on I.A. O'Shaughnessy and his legacy – 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 5, in O'Shaughnessy Educational Center auditorium

• St. Paul campus Heritage Week reception (co-sponsored with STAR ) – 11:45 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, in the main floor lounge of Murray-Herrick Campus Center

• Ecumenical prayer luncheon – Noon-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, in Room 202, Opus Hall, Minneapolis campus (pre-registration required, details on the Heritage Week Web site).

• Minneapolis campus Heritage Week reception – Noon-1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 8, in the first-floor atrium of Terrence Murphy Hall.

• Heritage Week service event – Friday, March 9 (more information will be forthcoming)
