Internship Program
What is PIP?

20 paid summer
internships are available through the Partners Internship
Program

Internship
projects allow students to have a valuable contribution to the
nonprofit's mission
-
Internship
projects provide valuable skills and experience for working in
the nonprofit sector
-
Students are
guided through their work and reflect on the impact on the
organization
-
Internships
are with organizations located in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North
Dakota
Positions are 400 hours, approximately 10 weeks full-time; wage is
$9.50 per hour
To Apply
In January, 2008 the internships listings will be available on the
PIP web page at www.hecua.org/pip.php To apply, you will send a
resume and cover letter directly to the organization hosting that
internship. You may apply for as many of the internships as you
wish.
Timeline

End of January, 2008 - Internship listings are available on PIP
web page and job posting sites

March 3, 2008 - Application deadline to organizations
-
End of March, 2008 - Organization completes hiring decision,
notifies selected student
-
May 31, 2008 -Pre-internship seminar for PIP interns
(required)

June 1, 2008 - Intern starts placement at host organization
-
August 15, 2008 - Post-internship seminar for all PIP interns
(required)
Student Eligibility
Students applying for PIP Internships must meet the following
eligibility requirements:
-
Must currently be an undergraduate enrolled in a college or
university in Minnesota, North Dakota or Wisconsin and/or be an
undergraduate currently enrolled in any HECUA member campus
-
Must be returning to school in the fall of 2008 to continue
undergraduate studies
-
Must have no previous employment experience with the sponsoring
organization
-
Must not be a relative of any paid or volunteer staff or board
member of the sponsoring organization
-
Must not have participated in the Partners Internship Program in
a previous year
Must
attend a pre-internship seminar on May 31 and a post-internship
seminar on Aug. 15

Other HECUA Internship Opportunities
The Partners Internship Program (PIP) is coordinated by HECUA (the
Higher Education Consortium for Urban Affairs), with funding from
the Otto Bremer Foundation. In addition, HECUA offers a variety of
semester-long and J-term programs for college students to engage in
internships or field projects to gain academic credit. Programs are
available in the U.S., Ecuador, Scandinavia, Northern Ireland and
