Health Insurance Waivers due Feb 16

All F-1 and J-1 visa students are required to enroll in the St. Thomas health insurance plan while attending St. Thomas. All F-1 and J-1 visa students will be charged the insurance fee of  $390.00 for the Spring Semester. There are very limited reasons to waive this mandatory insurance for F-1 and J-1 visa students.

Students who intend to waive this insurance must do so by February 16, 2007. For more instructions, please visit our website at http://www.stthomas.edu/oiss/insurance/.

Supplementary Health Insurance Information:

Dependents (Spouse and Children):  See the following website: http://www.stthomas.edu/oiss/insurance/ for insurance information and rates for dependents (spouse and children).  If you intend to purchase optional dependent insurance coverage, you must sign-up during the enrollment period (before February 16, 2007).

Intercollegiate Sports Coverage:  F-1 and J-1 students who play intercollegiate sports at St. Thomas must purchase the Intercollegiate Sports Coverage ($300 per person) during the enrollment period  in order to have insurance coverage during intercollegiate sports games and practices starting January 2, 2007.

During OPT or Academic Training:  F-1 and J-1 visa students who are on OPT (F-1 students) or Academic Training (J-1 students) have the option to purchase this insurance policy by contacting OISS.  Students on OPT will NOT automatically be charged for this insurance, they must contact OISS before February 16, 2007 to sign up for this insurance for the Spring Semester.
