F-1 international students who want to waive the UST-sponsored health insurance plan can submit their U.S.-based health insurance information that meets the minimum requirements via Murphy Online at: https://banner.stthomas.edu.
F-1 students who want to waive the UST insurance are required to enter their U.S. insurance policy information in Murphy Online after August 1, 2008 and before September 30, 2008 but we recommend they do it before the 10th day of classes.
F-1 international students who do not complete the Murphy Online waiver process by September 30th will be automatically enrolled in and billed for the UST-sponsored plan. Those whose waiver request is approved will still be enrolled in and billed for an evacuation and repatriation plan.
Your alternative insurance policy must meet the following coverage requirements in order to have a waiver request accepted. The alternative policy must:
J-1 international students are not eligible to waive the UST-sponsored plan due to Department of State requirements.
Global Emergency Assistance Services
(autocharged to F-1students)
As an international student at UST you will have the Global Emergency Assistance Services Plan. The fee is $45 semi-annual and it will be automatically charged to your student account. This included emergency medical evaluation and repatriation.
