Check your OPT status online and sign-up for automatic email notification!!

The first step is to go to Case Status Services Online page at:
https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp

You will be given three options:

1) Check the status of your case online,
2) Create/Edit customer portfolio account,
3) Login to an existing account.


Check the status of your case online

Enter your Application Receipt Number and click on Search

This will display the current state of your application. Please note that you need to enter your 13-chatacter application receipt number in the form of: LIN1234567890.


Create/Edit customer portfolio account

This option enables you to create/edit a customer portfolio account that will enable you to receive automatic email notifications if your Case Status changes. We highly encourage you to take advantage of this option!

First of all, read carefully all the agreements and if you understand what is required, click on Accept.

You will then create your account by completing the form below. Please note that both your User ID and your Password must be between 8 and 14 characters and contain at least one number, one English uppercase character  (Roman alphabet) and one English lowercase character (Roman alphabet).
When you are done entering your information, click Submit

Once this is done you will be notified that your account creation has been successful by the following screen:

At the same time you will also receive a Case Status New Account Notification email with your User ID and Password

You are ready to use your new account, click on Login.


Login to an existing account

To login to your account, you need to select the User Type as Customer, enter your User ID and your Password and click on Submit.

If you have just created your Case Status account, you will get the following screen which states "You currently do not have any cases added to your portfolio."

To add a case, click on the area showed in the picture below:

All you need to do is enter your Application Receipt Number and click on Submit.

Your Portfolio should now display the case you have just added.

Be sure that there is a "Y" under the E-mail column for each case you want to received an email notification for.
You can add more cases to your portfolio by repeating the last step. You can also choose to remove cases by selecting them and clicking on Remove.

When you are done viewing your Portfolio remember to click on Logout!
