Going abroad this summer?

Summer is an exciting time to see the world, while relaxing on vacation. If you plan to travel abroad over summer you should check in with an OISS advisor to BEFORE you book your ticket, to ensure you do not jeopardize your status.

Below are the hours and days we will have drop in time available:

St. Paul Campus (MHC 161)

May 21: 3:30pm to 5:30pm

May 22: 2:00pm to 4:00pm

 

Minneapolis Campus (TMH 100U)

May 7: 10:00am to 12:00pm (noon)

May 19: 3:00pm to 5:00pm

 
A travel consultation appointment usually last 15 minutes. For this appointment appointment you should bring the following:

- D2-2019 if you are a J1 student
- I-20 if you are a F1 student
 

An advisor will sign this document indicating approval for travel. You may also request an online verification letter to bring with you to the airport. In order to ensure that travel goes smoothly (particularly at the Port of Entry), here is a list of required and recommended documents:

Required documents:

Valid I-20 or DS-2019 with a recent advisor signature
Valid passport
Valid F-1 or J-1 visa stamp
Recommended Documents

Bank statements
Official transcript from Registrar’s Office – if you do not have the time to receive an official transcript, we recommend that you print off an unofficial transcript Fall schedule through Murphy online.
