St. Thomas Women Connect, an alumnae affinity group, has established a $1,000 annual undergraduate scholarship to be awarded for the 2012-13 academic year. Applications are being accepted now.
Applicants for this scholarship must submit a two-page essay describing how they are carrying out of the mission of St. Thomas Women Connect: “to inspire and advance one another personally, professionally and spiritually, as well as give back to the St. Thomas community through networking, service and fun.”
In the essay, applicants should describe a time when they have been an inspiration to others or assisted someone in achieving a goal. Applicants also should describe what the phrase “give back” means to them and provide an example of how they have given back to the community.
Applicants also must submit a letter of recommendation from someone with direct knowledge of their leadership skills. Applicants must currently have sophomore or junior standing. Preference will be given to a female student.
Essays should be emailed to Dr. Corrine Carvalho at the Luann Dummer Center for Women by Thursday, March 15. The scholarship is renewable.
