'Whiplash: Women Candidates, Media Coverage and Gender Stereotyping' topic of this week's Feminist Friday

Discussions of "hair, hemlines and husbands" still are integrated into media coverage of women in politics. They're the topic of the Feminist Friday event this week at St. Thomas' Luann Dummer Center for Women.

Dr. Angela High-Pippert of the UST College of Arts and Sciences' History Department will give a talk, "Whiplash: Women Candidates, Media Coverage and Gender Stereotyping," from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, in the Luann Dummer Center for Women, Room 103, O'Shaughnessy Educational Center. It's free and everyone's welcome.

High-Pippert will focus on media coverage of the Michele Bachmann-Patty Wetterling 2006 congressional campaigns and Hillary Clinton's 2008 presidential campaign.
