Wellstone to speak at St. Thomas Wednesday, Nov. 17 St. Thomas Newsroom November 11, 1999 “Cynics Don’t Change the World: Student Activism for the New Millennium” is the title of an upcoming talk at the University of St. Thomas by U.S. Sen. Paul Wellstone. A former teacher and contributor to most major education legislation in the Senate, Wellstone will speak at noon Wednesday, Nov. 17, in the auditorium of O’Shaughnessy Educational Center. The talk is free and open to the public. Prior to his remarks, Wellstone will be inducted as an honorary member of the national leadership honor society Omicron Delta Kappa. Founded in 1914 at Washington and Lee University, ODK recognizes college students, faculty and staff who have demonstrated leadership in all areas of college life. The society also recognizes civic, business and community leaders for service to campus or community life. St. Thomas has had an ODK chapter since 1991.
