There are few UST athletic competitions left in the 1999 calendar year.

Women’s hockey: This week, only one Tommie team is in action. Women’s hockey (3-2) hosts first-year varsity program UW-River Falls (1-8) Friday (7:30 p.m., Parade Ice Garden) and plays Saturday at River Falls (7:05 p.m.). The Tommies have won three in a row and don’t play again until Jan. 13.

Men’s hockey: The UST men’s hockey team (7-0-2 overall, 3-0-1 MIAC), ranked fourth nationally, plays Dec. 29-30 in the Minuteman Tournament at Maplewood’s Aldrich Arena. The Tommies play UW-Eau Claire and UW-River Falls, both 5:30 p.m. games. The Tommies resume play Jan. 4 at UW-Stevens Point.

Basketball: The men’s basketball team (5-2 overall, 2-1 MIAC) and the women’s basketball team (5-1 overall, 3-0 MIAC) resume play Jan. 3 in games vs. St. Olaf.

Swimming: The men’s and women’s swimming and diving team leaves Saturday for a 12-day training trip in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. They compete again Jan. 8 at Gustavus.

Wrestling: The wrestling team competes Jan. 8 at the North Country Invite in Moorhead.
