The University of St. Thomas Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa recently was awarded the Superior Circle Award. Of the 269 circles of the society, only five circles of Omicron Delta Kappa received this honor for the 1999-2000 academic year. The Superior Circle Award is presented to circles that submit appropriate materials in a timely manner and sponsor at least two substantial campuswide programs.
Omicron Delta Kappa is a national leadership honor society that strives to bring together leaders from all areas of campus life in order to recognize those who have excelled in various capacities. The society recognizes achievement in scholarship; athletics; campus or community service; social and religious activities; campus government; journalism, speech and the mass media; and the creative and performing arts.
Stacy Sommerhauser, president of the St. Thomas circle, submitted an essay highlighting two of the circle’s activities — the annual Dean’s List reception for first semester students and the Books for Africa project.
