UST veterans collect Toys for Tots on campus

The St. Thomas Veterans’ Association (StVA) today will launch its first Toys for Tots campaign at the University of St. Thomas. The campaign will run from Tuesday, Dec. 1, through Thursday, Dec. 10 with collection sites located at the Bookstore in Murray-Herrick Campus Center on the St. Paul campus and on the second floor of the School of Law on the Minneapolis campus.

Historically, Toys for Tots has struggled to meet the demand for toys during tough economic times, and this year is expected to be no different. StVA, the new student organization made up of University of St. Thomas student veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces, many of whom have served tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, are asking the St. Thomas community to help make this Christmas season a little bit brighter for underprivileged children in the Twin Cities area.

Stumped on what to donate? Gifts can be purchased on campus from the bookstores. Toys for Tots accepts new batteries, books, stuffed animals, headphones and children’s books, which are available at the bookstores.

For guidance on acceptable toys donations see Toys for Tots. For more information about Toys for Tots or about StVA, e-mail jone6784@stthomas.edu or lunn5879@stthomas.edu.
