UST men’s club lacrosse team receives 2005 Sportsmanship Award

From Andy Lee, men's club lacrosse team president

The UST men’s club lacrosse team recently received the 2005 Sportsmanship Award from the Minnesota Lacrosse Association (MLA) at the Laxtravaganza held at Holy Angels High School.

The Sportsmanship Award is voted on by the referees and given to the team, chosen from the 14 eligible teams in the Upper Midwest Lacrosse League (UMLL), that has modeled good sportsmanship throughout the season. This award means so much to our club.

The team finished second in the UMLL this year with a season record of 8-2 and 1-1 in the playoffs. Five UST players were named first team all-conference: Jim Reilly (senior), Evan Tornell (junior), Francis Madden (sophomore), and Joey Julius and David Hildebrand (freshmen), and two players were named second team all-conference: Erik Iverson and Kevin Piper (juniors).

Special thanks go to Dave Lepp and Mark Dienhart for their efforts to make this past season so successful, and many thanks to the referees of the UMLL.
