Sports columnist Charley (“Shooter”) Walters writes, “In what has to be the most detailed Baseball Hall of Fame analysis for pitchers, Dr. Dan Carey, in a new 173-page book titled "Establishing Credentials for Pitcher Selection to the Hall of Fame," shows Blyleven undoubtedly should be elected. Carey, who is from Hastings, was a hard-throwing left-handed pitcher who was selected in the second round of the 1967 amateur draft by the New York Mets and spent six seasons in their minor league system.
