- "Vince Flynn on Writing Political Thrillers," video segment on "Imus in the Morning," Fox Business Network, Nov. 18, 2009. Best-selling author Flynn is a 1988 St. Thomas alumnus.
- "Study: Twin Cities Can't Afford 4 Major Sports Teams," KSTP-TV, Dec. 8, 2009. "Dr. Dave Vang of the University of St. Thomas Finance Department said, 'In the long run, I find it hard to believe that we can maintain all four at the same time.'"
- "Too Many Students Going to College? The Conversation Continues," Chronicle of Higher Education Review, Dec. 9, 2009. "Meanwhile, at the University of St. Thomas, in Minnesota, a reporter for the campus's student-run online news service, Ben Katzner, asked some students about their own views."

- “Ruben Rosario: Theft-of-services law's days may be numbered," St. Paul Pioneer Press, Dec. 16, 2009. "Henry 'Hank' Shea, a former Minnesota federal prosecutor, disagrees. He points out that the law was deliberately written to crack more sophisticated public corruption and white-collar frauds or scams. 'I do not believe it's unconstitutionally vague,' said Shea, who teaches ethical leadership in litigation and crime and punishment courses at the University of St. Thomas Law School. 'It may be subject to overreaching or potential misuse, but that's a different matter.'"

"The University of St. Thomas has launched a mulitipronged effort to address the growing lack of civility in U.S. society. The school is raising money for an endowed chair in civil discourse and has started a pilot academic program on the topic. It's also announced plans for a lecture series that College of Arts and Science Dean Dr. Marisa Kelly said 'will strive to promote discussion of important ideas without the aggression, anger and obstinacy that often cloud such matters in today's world,' according to a news release. Newsweek Editor Jon Meacham will kick off the series Feb. 16, lecturing on 'Conflict and Civility in the Age of Obama.'"
- “College endowments better than last year, but still down," Minnesota Public Radio, Dec. 21, 2009. "'That doesn't sound too bad at all when you consider how crazy the markets were,' said Mike Sullivan, the investment officer for the University of St. Thomas. Here's why Sullivan is relieved that St. Thomas' endowment was down only $16 million over the past year. In the summer of 2008, the endowment was $480 million. Then came the Wall Street meltdown. By March of this year, the endowment had declined by nearly a third."

Sports columnist Charley ("Shooter") Walters writes, "Almost immediately after the announcement last week that Dennis Denning would retire Feb. 1, the legendary University of St. Thomas baseball coach received six employment offers."
- “2 feet for Christmas? You better watch out," Star Tribune, Dec. 22, 2009. "Many private institutions, such as the University of St. Thomas, have slightly shorter semesters and wrapped up their finals last week. But the last exams at UW-Madison begin at 2:45 Wednesday, by which time snow and gusty winds could be hampering travel to Minnesota."
