• "Chaska private school teacher honored," Star Tribune, Dec. 11, 2008.   "Amy Gallus of Guardian Angels School is among those receiving the 2009 Distinguished Teacher Award from the Department of Elementary Schools of the National Catholic Educational Association. Gallus, 39, of Norwood Young America, has been at Guardian Angels since 2001 and has been teaching middle school since 1994. While teaching full time, she completed her master's and education specialist's degrees at the University of St. Thomas. • "Youth served at two ND colleges," Fargo Forum, Dec. 13, 2008.   "The University of Mary just named a 33-year-old to be the next president. The Rev. James Shea will begin leading the private Catholic college in July, when he's 34. … Shirley relies on mentors who have more experience to aid him as he makes decisions. He also attended a training academy for new university presidents put on by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities. • "Faces," Duluth News Tribune, Dec. 14, 2008. "Several area students and alumni of University of St. Thomas will perform during the university's 21st annual Christmas concert 'Hodie Christus Natus Est (Christ is Born Today)' today in Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis. The concert will be broadcast by hundreds of public television stations nationwide during the holiday season. Check local listings for broadcasts by your public television station. Among participating students are: J.R. Mackey, Grand Rapids, bass in liturgical choir; Josh Anderson, Hibbing, concert and men's choir; Katy Cassingham, Hibbing, concert and women's choir; Nikita Wilmers, concert and women's choir; and John Hillman, Duluth, concert and men's choir. The concert is a St. Thomas tradition and used to showcase the excellence of the university's music program. Concert proceeds benefit St. Thomas music ensembles' international performance tours." • "Northern Tool + Equipment launches quirky Kotula's brand," Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal, Dec. 12, 2008. "Dave Brennan, co-director of the Institute for Retailing Excellence at the University of St. Thomas, said Northern Tool and Kotula's will complement each other. But like all Division III athletes, he receives no money for playing a sport. While they can receive grants and academic aid, Becker and other athletes who bounce back from Division I and II schools discover the reality of Division III sports.
