UST Crew announces results from Oklahoma City regatta

From UST Crew

After a week and a half of focused and intense training in Austin, Texas, for spring break, the UST Crew Team made a stop on the way home for a regatta in Oklahoma City. The regatta was a 2k race on the Oklahoma River with successful outcomes for both the men's and women's teams.

Beginning with a strong start, the women's varsity pair took first place with many boat lengths between them and the Oklahoma team. The men's varsity eight came in a strong second. UST had led most of the race. Both teams were racing head to head at the end, but Oklahoma was able to pull ahead by a mere seat.

By the time the varsity four races came up, the water had become very rough and hard to row through. Even though the circumstances were not in the rowers' favor, both the men's and women's varsity fours came in first place. They were able to pull hard the entire race and have a great outcome.

The Novice team had a great start to its first spring season as well. Many members of the novice men's and women's teams had never rowed before spring training, but everyone was able to row strong races against Oklahoma.

Kudos to the varsity and novice teams! This was a great kick off to the spring racing season.
