Twin Cities Corporate Championship Flag Football Competition a Hit - Literally

The University of St. Thomas MBA Programs sponsored the 2009 Twin Cities Corporate Championship on November 6-7. This two-day, double elimination, flag football championship brought teams from Target, General Mills, Ameriprise, and other prominent Twin Cities corporations.

The competition was steep, and the players showed great resilience and endurance. University of St. Thomas alumna Ashley Carlblom from Target went head to head (literally) with another player on Friday night and received seven stitches across her left eyebrow. Undeterred, she returned on Saturday to play five more games, taking her team to second place.

Ultimately, it was the No Limit team from General Mills that pulled the championship title this year. “My entire team agreed that the tournament was very competitive, but also a lot of fun for everyone involved.  My flag football team has been playing together for the past four years, and this is probably the best event that we’ve ever been a part of.  We are definitely looking forward to playing again next year and hopefully defending our title,” said Mark Henderson, team captain and co-director of TCCC.

Approximately 120 players attended the tournament, and another 30 family members and friends came out to enjoy the beautiful weather and great football. Twin Cities Corporate Championships (TCCC) partnered with charity organization Feed My Starving Children, collecting proceeds and individual donations to help fight hunger for children around the world.

“This was just a wonderful weekend full of great football and socializing. Special thanks to our sponsor, the UST MBA Programs, to Target, Ameriprise, General Mills and to Feed My Starving Children for helping make this weekend such a success,” said Shanna Davis, co-director of TCCC. “We look forward to more of these in the coming years.”
