Finance & Commerce, Minnesota's only "independent daily newspaper dedicated to business reporting," is accepting nominations for its Top Women in Finance award until August 23.
While female enrollment in MBA programs has increased over the past several years, women are still a distinct minority in finance-related fields. A recent article in Harvard Magazine cited a University of Chicago survey showing that only 8 percent of respondents working in venture capital were women, while women comprised about 15 percent of respondents working in investment banking.
Organizations such as the National Association of Women MBAs (NAWMBA) and the Forte Foundation have done much to support the promotion of talented women into corporate leadership positions. The UST NAWMBA chapter has grown exponentially in recent years as it helps prepare women for careers in finance and a variety of other business disciplines.

Winners will be honored at an awards dinner at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Minneapolis on November 10.
