Talk on 'The Politics of Immigration Today' is Thursday
Flor Crisóstomo, a young mother from Oaxaca, Mexico, now living in Chicago, will speak at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, in the auditorium, Room 126, John R. Roach Center for the Liberal Arts.
Her presentation is titled "The Politics of Immigration Today: Addressing Root Causes." An activist for immigrants' rights, she will talk about her firsthand experience with the effect of U.S. trade policies on Mexican workers.
Crisóstomo will be accompanied by Peggy Valdez of the Mexico Solidarity Network, an international organization that promotes dialogue and social change by increasing the links between Mexican and U.S. civil society.
This presentation is sponsored by the University Lectures Committee, the Foreign Affairs Club, the Globally Minded Student Association and the Political Science Department. Everyone is welcome and refreshments will be served.
