Summit Avenue Review seeks editors, contributors St. Thomas Newsroom September 20, 1999 Students interested in working on the editorial staff of this year’s Summit Avenue Review should attend a short but important organizational meeting from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, in Room 301, McNeely Hall.Summit Avenue Review is the award-winning literary and visual arts magazine edited and produced by University of St. Thomas students. Editorial work begins fall semester and the magazine is published in the spring.Please note that there is a course, ENGL 480-Literary Magazine Practicum, available to students working on the magazine. The course gives guidance in practical issues of editing, examines the role of literary magazines from the founding of Poetry magazine in 1912, and reflects on the state of contemporary literary magazines. Students interested in the practicum should speak with Dr. Lon Otto as soon as possible. (It’s technically a spring-semester course, but arrangements need to be made well in advance of spring registration.)Submissions: Anyone from the St. Thomas community interested in submitting poetry, short fiction, creative non-fiction, or visual art to the magazine should send it to Summit Avenue Review, Mail # 4345, University of St. Thomas. Be sure to include a self-addressed return envelope and a phone number where you can be reached by the student editors during the 1999-2000 school year.
