Study abroad: NSEP scholarships available for 2007-2008; NSEP rep here Oct. 17
A representative from the NSEP scholarship program will conduct an information session for interested students at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, in the International Education Center, 44 N. Cleveland Ave.
The NSEP (National Security Exchange Program) provides a unique opportunity for U.S. students to study in world regions critical to U.S. interests (including Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Middle East).
NSEP was designed to provide American undergraduates with the resources and encouragement they need to acquire skills and experiences in areas of the world critical to the future security of the United States, in exchange for a commitment to seek work in the federal government.
If you're thinking about studying abroad in any of the above locations, consider applying for an NSEP award. Awards are a maximum of $10,000 for a semester or $20,000 for a full academic year.
The 2007-2008 NSEP Boren Scholarships offer funding for study abroad in summer 2007, fall 2007, spring 2008, and/or the academic year 2007-2008. The St. Thomas deadline for applying is Jan. 15, 2007.
