All are free and take place on St. Thomas’ St. Paul campus unless otherwise indicated. For more information, call the Music Department, (651) 962-5850. 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, in Brady Educational Center auditorium: Sowah Mensah directs UST’s African Music Ensemble in a winter concert. 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, in Brady Educational Center auditorium: Joan Griffith, Denis Allaire and Jeff Rinear direct a concert by the university’s Small Jazz Combo, Jazz Singers and Instrumental Jazz Ensemble. 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, in Brady Educational Center auditorium: Joan Griffith directs the UST Guitar Ensemble in a winter concert. 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at Minnehaha Academy ’s Chapel/Fine Arts Center, 3100 West River Parkway, Minneapolis: The UST Bands, conducted by Dr. Matthew George and Dr. Doug Orzolek, give a winter concert. The bands will perform works by Nicolai, Lauridsen, Filmore, Persichetti, Whitacre, Hultgren and Cichy. Dr. Sarah Schmalenberger of the UST Music Department faculty will be the horn soloist in two movements from Mozart’s Concerto No. 2 in E-flat (Opus 417). 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, in Brady Educational Center auditorium: UST student Joel Davis gives a guitar recital.
