St. Thomas students participate in Arrowhead Model United Nations Conference

The Model United Nations team of the Foreign Affairs Club participated in the Arrowhead Model United Nations conference at St. Cloud State University, held April 10-13, in St. Cloud, Minn. Students represented the delegations of the United States and Serbia.

Ericka Ashley and Jacob Martell won Best Opening Speech for Serbia, and the entire Serbian delegation won Honorable Mention for Best Delegation. Jochen Kuck won Honorable Mention for Best Delegate for the Environmental Committee. Conference participants also included Brandon Ford, Tim Gaughan, Martha Garcia, Chris Greising, Kaitlyn Joyce, Yusuf Kalif, Hanad Mohamed and Nataliya Shipulina.

The keynote speaker at this year’s conference was Peter Jackson, chief editor of the Yearbook of the United Nations and writer for UN Chronicle Magazine, who addressed the Model UN regarding issues surrounding the conflict in Darfur.
