St. Thomas Magazine Wins Three SPJ Awards

St. Thomas magazine has won three awards in the annual Page One Awards competition sponsored by the Minnesota chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. SPJ is the oldest, largest and broadest-based organization of journalists in the United States. The Minnesota chapter was founded in 1956.

The awards, which recognize work published in 2014, were announced in May.

St. Thomas magazine received awards in the following categories:

First place in Best Profile Story: Writer Doug Hennes for the profile “Malone: A Priest in Full”

First place in Best Page Design: Art Director/Designer Sara Klomp and Photography Director Mike Ekern for “Immigrant Impact,” a 20-page section

Third place in Best Magazine: The St. Thomas magazine staff (including Editor Brian Brown, Managing Editor Patricia Petersen, Art Director Sara Klomp and Photography Director Mike Ekern)
