St. Thomas announces Opening Doors campaign, celebrations on both campuses today

A gift of $60 million – the largest single contribution to a college or university in Minnesota – has helped the University of St. Thomas launch a $500 million capital campaign.

The gift from Lee and Penny Anderson is part of the Opening Doors campaign announced at a dinner and program on campus last evening, and in a Bulletin Today story late yesterday afternoon.

Students, staff and faculty are invited to learn more about Opening Doors at one of two celebrations that will be held today, Thursday, Oct. 25, in Coughlan Field House on the St. Paul campus and in the Schulze Hall auditorium on the Minneapolis campus.

The celebrations will begin at 11:30 a.m. in St. Paul and 11:45 a.m. in Minneapolis. Both events will include a free lunch and a program.

Binz Refectory is the only other location where lunch will be served on the St. Paul campus today. Food for Thought will remain open today on the Minneapolis campus.

Opening Doors Web site launched

A Web site devoted to news and announcements about the Opening Doors campaign can be found at https://www.stthomas.edu/openingdoors/.

The site includes the campaign video that was shown at the kickoff program held last evening to initiate the public phase of the campaign.

The Opening Doors site provides details on the campaign's 21 priorities. Many of the individual sites also have videos, and all have graphics that show progress toward each priority’s goal.

The site will be updated throughout the campaign, which is expected to run another four years.
