St. Paul Police, UST Public Safety thank you for your assistance St. Thomas Newsroom September 24, 2003 From the UST Public Safety DepartmentAnother tip from a St. Thomas community member has resulted in the identification of two people who were wanted for questioning by the St. Paul Police after a recent incident at the SuperAmerica store, 2051 Grand Ave.In cooperation with the police department and University Relations, Public Safety sent an alert to the UST community late Friday afternoon. On Monday morning, a UST employee called Public Safety Investigator Mike Barrett and identified the two individuals as young men having no UST affiliation. This information was shared with St. Paul Police Investigator Jane Laurence, who corroborated the information.Laurence said she was impressed with how well the alert worked to assist her investigation. On Saturday, she already had received information from a UST student who had read the alert. Two days later, the individuals were identified.The young men were wanted for questioning for their involvement in making felony terroristic threats and criminal damage to property after being refused sale of a pack of cigarettes.Public Safety and the St. Paul Police Department thank you for your continued cooperation toward solving crimes in our area.
