Seven Tommy teams will compete this weekend.The Tommy baseball team, ranked No. 1 nationally in NCAA Division III, hosts Carleton Saturday (1 p.m.) in two seven-inning games on the north campus diamond. The Tommies’ final home game will be Monday vs. Concordia-St. Paul (3:30 p.m.) in one nine-inning game. UST took a 22-4 record into Thursday’s doubleheader at Macalester.The Tommy softball team, ranked No. 24 nationally in Division III, hosts St. Ben’s Saturday (1 p.m) in two seven-inning conference games on the south campus diamond. The Tommies’ final home games will be May 5 vs. St. Catherine. The Tommies took a 24-6 record into Thursday’s doubleheader vs. Bethel.The UST men’s tennis team plays its final home dual match Friday vs. Bethel (4 p.m.), then plays Saturday at St. Olaf (11:30 a.m.). The winner of the UST-St. Olaf match has the inside track on second place in the final MIAC standings behind Gustavus.The Tommy men’s and women’s track and field teams are also busy. The women had Kelly Faris running Thursday evening in the prestigious Drake Relays in Des Moines. The men’s team also will have some competitors Friday and Saturday at the Drake Relays. Most of the Tommy track athletes will compete Saturday — the women’s team at Macalester, and the men’s team at St. John’s.In golf, the Tommy women’s team will compete Friday and Saturday in the Minnesota state meet in the Mankato area, while the men’s team will be in St. Cloud Sunday and Monday for the St. John’s Invite.The UST women’s tennis team completed its dual season Thursday. The Tommies will try to wrap up a second-place conference finish at the May 4-5 MIAC Championships in Northfield.
