From Computing and Communication Services

Some student computing resources will be unavailable starting at 9 a.m. this Friday, Nov. 24, until 9 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 26.

What’s happening?

In order to fix some ongoing problems, the file server that provides St. Thomas students with their personal storage space (typically referred to as MyStorage or U: drive) is going to be rebuilt starting at 9 a.m. Friday. This server will be available no later than Sunday, at 9 a.m.

What does this mean for me?

Files that are stored in your personal storage space (MyStorage or U: drive) will not be available during this time.

Will I lose data?

No. Once the server is available on Sunday, anything in your personal storage space will be available to you again, just as before the maintenance work began.

What if I need to work with files stored in my personal storage space over the weekend?

If you need to work on the files you have stored in your personal storage space (MyStorage or U: drive) over the Thanksgiving holiday, copy them to a floppy disk and/or a Zip disk. Please remember, do not copy your files to the local hard drives of lab computers. The files may not be available again when you come back to the machine.

All other CCS services that are normally available on the weekend should be available over this Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
