The Most Rev. Francis Schulte, archbishop of New Orleans and chancellor of Notre Dame Seminary, awarded an honorary degree to Sister Katarina Schuth, O.S.F., at commencement exercises on May 11. Schuth is the Chair for the Social Scientific Study of Religion at the St. Paul Seminary School of Divinity of the University of St. Thomas.

The archbishop wrote:

Not only Notre Dame Seminary, but the entire seminary community throughout the United States is indebted to you for the valuable research and service you have provided for so many years. Your writings have brought enlightenment and renewal to priestly formation. Your contribution to organizations nationally and regionally as well as your attendance at so many meetings have brought new ideas, challenges and a spirit of renewal to the work of priestly formation in the United States.
