Scholarships available to attend 2007 Multicultural Forum

The University of St. Thomas values diversity as a critical part of its mission. The president, in consultation with his senior staff, has made an ongoing commitment to promote diversity. As part of expanding institutional partnerships to increase diversity programming initiatives, the Office of Institutional Diversity is pleased to announce the Diversity Advantage Scholarship for full-time faculty and staff members.

The Diversity Advantage Scholarship was created to provide UST employees an opportunity to register and participate in the 19th annual Multicultural Forum on Workplace Diversity, “ Pursuing the Dream: Inclusion, Opportunity and  Empowerment,” Feb. 20 and 21 at RiverCentre in St. Paul.

The mission of the Multicultural Forum is to advance diversity in the workplace by enhancing awareness and understanding to bring about an inclusive workplace environment. The forum is hosted by St. Thomas' Opus College of Business and the Twin Cities chapter of the National Black MBA Association.

Ten $125 scholarships will be awarded based on applicants’ personal diversity philosophy, benefits of this professional development opportunity and their plans for sharing what they have learned. Application and registration forms can be downloaded from the Office of Institutional Diversity Web site beginning tomorrow, Feb. 2. Completed application and registration forms must be received by 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, in the Office of Institutional Diversity, Room 104A, Aquin as Hall. These materials may be mailed to the office at Mail #AQU104.

Diversity Advantage Scholarship recipients will be notified via e-mail no later than Friday, Feb. 16. Scholarships may be used only toward registration at the forum to attend one of the following:

  • One professional development institute on Feb. 20 or
  • The entire day of concurrent workshops Feb. 21
