Please Remember Robert E. Culligan in Your Prayers

Please remember in your prayers Robert E. Culligan, patriarch of an extended St. Thomas family. Culligan, age 83, of St. Paul, died Monday, Jan. 9. He was the father of Maggie (Culligan) King ’83, Development office, and Mary Culligan, M.B.A. '82; father-in-law of Paul King ’80; and the grandfather of Jennifer King ’07 and current student Courtney King ’15.

Culligan is survived by his wife, Nancy, and six children along with numerous family members. He is an alumus of St. Thomas Academy, the University of Notre Dame, and the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. He served in the U.S. Army's 10th Mountain Division before marrying Nancy in 1955. In 1956, he began a 33-year career with 3M. In 1989, he took early retirement to pursue his avocation as a watercolorist. A longtime member of the Old Town Artists cooperative in St. Paul's Lowertown, he won First Honors at the Minnesota State Fair in 1995.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, at O'Halloran Murphy Funeral Home, 575 S. Snelling Ave., St. Paul.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at the Church of the Assumption, 51 W. Seventh St., St. Paul, with visitation one hour prior (luncheon and burial following Mass).
